Well maintained equipment. No one bothers you and never waiting for equipment. Staff are more than happy to help. Food and drink is tasty and affordable so you can make a day of it.

After rehabilitation following surgery I wanted to get back into swimming so went along and was kindly given a one-off free trial. The staff were friendly and the changing rooms clean and spacious. The main reasons why I'm not going to buy a membership and can only give one star is as follows: - pool is 20m with most of one end pretty much conpletely taken up by shallow steps which means you can't complete an unbroken swim, constantly having to stop at the steps. It's a poor layout. -pool is only about 1.2m deep throughout so tumble turns are difficult. -despite one of the employees saying the pool is generally quiet and they have a lane set aside for lap swimmers when I visited it was crowded out with a lesson going on down one side taking up a quarter of the pool width and no other lanes, just a free for all. No clockwise system etc. People were doing some kind of crossfit stuff and just marching up and down leaving little room for me to swim. There was no etiquette for swimmers like me who just want to plod up and down 80times. Kept getting pushed to one side or finding myself rubbing elbows with others who didn't seem to be swimming in a considerate manner. - inflexible pricing. I just want to use the pool yet there is no membership plan for this. It's all or nothing. I don't use the gym so my money would be wasted. If they had a separate membership for swimmers it might deserve a second look. - lots of non swimmers - you get a lot of the gym people coming into the pool to cool down or relax, adding to the congestion. Plus a lot of posers who just seem to strut around from the sauna into the pool, splash around a little then go back into the sauna after flexing their lats for everyone's consideration. I take particular umbrage to that employee who claimed that he swum every day and that the pool was rarely busy. As a potential customer he should really have been less patronising and more concerned with feedback about my experience, not his own. All in all it was kind of them to give me a free trial for one session in the pool but poor pool design, a patronising staff member and lack of organisation with inflexible membership plans means this is a no-go for people like me who just want to swim. Definitely not the place for serious swimmers. Can't comment on the gym use because I didn't go.
